T’s Poetry

Welcome to my poetry page. I truly hope you enjoy what you find here. Writing has always been a source of solace for me, a way to quiet my mind. Just an FYI… I use the name God in my writing but it is not necessarily in the Christian sense. God is used to name a spiritual being or presence, whatever that means to you. Writing is very personal but I wanted to capture emotion and thought in such a way that when someone reads my writing they take away something personal to them, something maybe only they can see.

I Dream of Fallen Angels

I dream of fallen angels

Wings of gossamer gone

Replaced with darkened,

Blackened wings

souls lost in oblivion

Eyes no longer shining
With the light of love and faith
But hollow, empty shells
Soulless eyes
Full of rage and hate

Sinking deeper into despair

Crying tears of ash and glass

Chained to past uncertainties

Weighed down with the guilt of no repentance

Resting in fields of fire

Brimstone as their pillow

Hands seeking in their sleep

Reach out like weeping willow

Words a whisper in the air

Their tongues barbed

Sting like thorns

On alabaster flesh

No peace for the weary

The wicked and obscene

Forever perched and seeking

The serenity left behind

Time Spent

You can’t imagine the paths in my mind
The time spent wandering
Getting lost
Losing time

Through gardens and gateways
Shadows and light
Digging ever deeper
Spreading wings, taking flight

Seeking
Searching
Chasing truth
Yearning for the innocence of my youth

Days adrift
In thoughts of yore
Grieving those
Here no more

In the arms of angels
I close my eyes
And finally allow myself
To say my goodbyes

One

In the chaos of every day

I sought for peace but lost the way

So into me I thought to look

My ego fought

My core was shook

But in the stillness of my mind

I learned to seek and to find

The mystery of life itself

That we are one

There’s nothing else

Quietude

 

In the quietude of my mind

In solitude I seek and find

All that once was lost to me

And all of what I used to be

Like shadow fallen from the light
Like tree and root
Like stars and night

It all became so clear to me
That all is one in unity
That we all play a smaller part
Of something with no end or start

A greater plan that came before
An omnipresent truth that’s more
Beautiful than eyes can see
And lives beyond eternity

For thoughts are naught in this realm
When we let go
God takes the helm
Our ship will sail the finite sea
But we will flow infinitely

Soul

Like a rose reaching for the sun

Petals opening one by one

My spirit danced on waves of light

That blossomed from the dark of night

Like a breath from heaven’s door
My soul, elated, sought for more
And in my hurry the moment fled
And left me with a sense of dread

But weary naught I tried again
And silenced all the sound within
Again the hand of God was felt
And all the darkness began to melt

The love that echoed from within
Seeped into my soul once again
And tears of joy slid down my face
For in God’s hands I found my place

Lost in Time

Sands of time fall thick
the glass turned upside down
now stuck
the ebb and flow of time stands still
lost to it are we
those who seek refuge
in the world of men
so far from home are we
that we forget
we are made of stars
the universe calls us home
yet we stay
stuck in flesh and bone
mirrored images confuse
the mind’s eye knows the truth
that we are lost to eternity
forever bound to the material world
weeping for the loss
of a home we will never see again

The Door 

 

The door, it spoke to me

Of lives come and gone

Of the many faces that passed its way

Of the sight of Dusk and Dawn

I laid my hands upon this door
To feel the time slip past
And wondered to myself
What spell this door had cast

I could not bear to move my feet
Or walk away just then
I yearned to know more about
Where this door had been

How many seasons had it seen
How many brushed its frame?
Had this door been moved before
And was it still the same?

I stood and stared for quite some time
Captivated by what I saw
Who knew a door could say so much
Or inspire in me such awe

Echoing Madness

Echoing madness
Steal my breath away
Losing faith in reality
Turn your face away

Arms are seeking meaning
Eyes are cold and gray
I’m lost and losing touch here
Keep the wolves at bay

They hunger for a victim
One too soft and kind
So they sink their fangs ever deeper
into my wandering mind

I search for things of fatih and love
I long for calm and quiet
But ever in my soul there writhes
A thunderous, angry riot

Shadows Falling

I see a shadow falling
Across my mind tonight
Darkening the dreams I had
Snuffing out the light

Echoes, they linger
Of dreams come and gone
Not sure where I am going
Or where my life went wrong

I’ve searched for dreams on mountain tops
And the bottom of a glass
But no longer can I see the way
Nightmares won’t let me pass

I reach for those I love the most
And close they hold me still
I long for peace and a quiet mind
For strength of heart and will

To turn away from this path
To find another way
To see forgiveness from above
To keep the dark at bay

My God, wherever you may lie
Protect me from all harms
And keep me safe from myself
Hold me in your arms

Glass

My soul was once made of glass

I was pure

Until it cracked

Tiny pieces broke away

Emptiness took its place

Now, on occasion

I feel a twinge

Thoughts cross my mind

That make me cringe

A darkness has crept in

Filling tiny voids

Like thorns around my heart

They grow and rip apart

I feel them in my flesh

Like parasites that are feeding

Even when I’m still

The comfort is only fleeting

Rain Kisses

 

Into the pouring rain I dance

The drops kissing my skin

The sounds reverberating

As they fall on roofs of tin

 

Embracing the storm clouds

As they rise

Getting soaked to the bone

But I do not mind

 

For this is what my soul desires

Madness and laughter

To put out the fire

That burns so deep in me

 

A passion ignited

I can no longer fight it

Ravaging me heart and soul

Who knew love could take such a toll

Sensual Sin

 

A touch, like fire

On my skin

My thoughts sink deeper

A kiss, a sin

 

Breathe my breath

As I do yours

Melt with me

Behind closed doors

 

Entwined bodies

Hot and wet

Moving slowly

Slick with sweat

 

Senses heightened

Fingertips tingle

Falling deeper

As our bodies mingle

 

I love our Sensual Sin.

Blind Faith

 

Blind faith has no cure

You say there’s a God but are you sure?

 

Confidence in man has shattered

Thoughts once certain

Now torn and scattered

 

Like ash from the flame your desire fades

Replaced with needles, booze and blades

 

Veins once strong now fold and fail

There’s no escaping … no key, no court, no bail

 

Faster down death’s highway, grasping at the throttle

Praying to your only God…

The one found in the bottle.

The demons never die

Ain’t no souls worth saving

In this God-forsaken place

No spirits wandering here

That can look you in the face

Just skin-bags skulking

From place to place

With ear-to-ear grins

And a can of mace

 

Pretending to be friendly

While sticking in the knife

Deeper in your back it slides

Slicing at your life

Filling you with rage and hate

And squelching any strife

 

Believe me when I tell you

That this world is gonna end

Ain’t no two ways about it son

It’s just around the bend

So put the gun up to your head

And press send

Amber Ghosts

 

Whiskey or wine

I don’t mind

It’s not what’s in the glass

That I’ve come to find

 

I’m chasing down a demon

In amber liquid form

My mind begins to hum

My thoughts begin to swarm

 

I reach for the crystal

And pour a few more drops

Before the demon crawls inside

Once it starts it never stops

 

Amber ghosts are teeming

Like predators with prey

And it’s too late to stop the train

So very still I lay

 

The water, it is rising

Surely I have drowned

But before I lose myself

Another glass is downed

 

Now the spirits smile

They are full of life tonight

And I lay weeping on the floor

I’ve lost another fight

 

I keep thinking it will end

And the glass will go away

But the ghosts they tell a different tale

That they are here to stay

 

… Please God, help me.
